The Alpine Club leads as many trips as possible during the school year. Our main focus is on the Leysin Skyline Challenge, which means to hike, climb, or ski the mountains visible from Leysin and from Berneuse, the top of the ski area behind Leysin.
Camping, caving, and hiking above Les Fers: Three adventures rolled into one! Enjoy the photos here.
Tour d’Ai Via Ferrata: The “iron way” above Leysin on the Tour d’Ai is one of the most popular tourist draws of Leysin’s mountains during the summer. It’s a favorite Alpine Club outing for the adventurous who don’t mind looking down from high places. View a photo album here. Note that there are several videos at the back of the album.
Diablerets Glacier: At 3210m, Diablerets is the highest peak in the Canton of Vaud and of our neighborhood. We climb this peak each fall. Here are some photos from 2015.
Solacyre Buvette above Leysin: we go here for hikes, snowshoes, and overnight winter camping.
Caving above Leysin. Here is the caver’s website with topos (maps) of all the local caves. LAS students only go into the Grotte de la Cathedrale. The others involve more technical terrain, including rappelling.
